Today, a higher education costs more than ever.  The AVSchools Financial Assistance section has been designed to provide you with some valuable student aid opportunities to in the field of aviation.

Be sure you meet the requirements before submitting your application.  After you have determined if you meet all necessary requirements, prepare your applications carefully.  It is important to follow instructions and submit your application by the deadline.

The Aircraft Electronics Association Educational Foundation will be awarding 26 scholarships totaling over $100,000 for the 2002-2003 school year to students pursuing a career in aircraft maintenance or aircraft electronics. To apply for a scholarship visit www.aea.net foundation. Applications will be available for download on September 1, 2001 and the deadline to apply for the 2002-2003 school year awards is February 15, 2002. General eligibility guidelines include: US Citizen (except for Monte Mitchell Scholarship), minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. See application for further details.

General Scholarship Descriptions:
Johnny Davis Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 -
Named in memory of Johnny Davis, president of Dallas Avionics, Dallas, Texas, who supported general aviation for over 30 years and served as an AEA Associate Board Member. This scholarship is available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Lowell Gaylor Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 -
Named in memory of Lowell Gaylor, president of AvEL Co., Dallas, Texas, who supported general aviation and the AEA for over 25 yrs. This scholarship is available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Bud Glover Memorial Scholarship - $1,000-
Named in memory of Bud Glover, former vice president of general aviation sales for Bendix/King. Bud was a 25-year contributor to our avionics industry. This scholarship is available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

David Arver Memorial Scholarship - $1,000-
Given by Dutch and Ginger Arver in memory of their son, David. Dutch Arver has been a strong supporter of the AEA for many years and served on the board of Directors until his retirement. The recipient of this scholarship shall be a high school senior and/or college student who plans to attend an accredited vocational/technical school located in AEA Region 3 (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin). Student must enroll in an avionics or aircraft repair academic program. 

Russell Leroy Jones Memorial Scholarship to Westwood College of Aviation Technology - (3) @ $6,000 each.- 
Available to students who plan to attend Westwood College of Aviation Technology in Broomfield, Colorado, in the electronics/avionics program. These scholarships are for tuition only. All other costs (tools, fees, room and board) will be the responsibility of the student. The applicant may not be currently enrolled at Westwood College of Aviation Technology. 

Lee Tarbox Memorial Scholarship - $2,500-
Given by Pacific Southwest Instruments, the scholarship is available to high school seniors or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Leon Harris/Les Nichols Memorial Scholarship to Spartan School of Aeronautics - over $22,000-
Available to students who plan to pursue an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Aviation Electronics (avionics) at Spartan School of Aeronautics campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The award will cover all tuition expenses for eight quarters or until the recipient completes an Associate's Degree, whichever comes first. All other costs (books, tools, living expenses and student fees) will be the responsibility of the student. The applicant may not be currently enrolled in the avionics program at Spartan. 

Bendix/King Avionics Scholarship - $1,000-
Available to high school, college, or vocational/technical school students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Garmin Scholarship - $2,000-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Gulf Coast Avionics Scholarship to Fox Valley Technical College - $1,000-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in the avionics program. The applicant may be currently enrolled in the avionics program at Fox Valley Technical College. 

Plane & Pilot Magazine/Garmin Scholarship - $2,000-
Available to high school, college or vocational/technical school students who plan to or are attending an accredited vocational/technical school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

College of Aeronautics Scholarship- $3,000-
Available to students in the two-year avionics technology program (Associate in Applied Sciences) at the College of Aeronautics in Flushing, New York. Scholarship is for the duration of the program. The student selected receives $750 per semester with a maximum of $3,000 for four semesters. 

Goodrich Avionics Systems Scholarship - $2,500-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited college/university in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Bose Corporation Scholarship - $1,500-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in an avionics program. 

Field Aviation Co., Inc. Scholarship - $1,000-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited college/university in an avionics or aircraft repair program. The educational institution must be located in Canada. 

Mid-Continent Instrument Scholarship - $1,000-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Dutch and Ginger Arver Scholarship - $1,000-
Available to high school seniors and/or college students who plan to or are attending an accredited school in an avionics or aircraft repair program. 

Monte R. Mitchell Global Scholarship - $1,000-
Sponsored by Mid-continent Instruments Co., this scholarship is named in honor of retired AEA President, Monte Mitchell. The scholarship is available to a European student pursuing a degree in aviation maintenance technology, avionics or aircraft repair at an accredited school located in Europe or the United States 

Tom Taylor Memorial Scholarship -over $22,000-
To be awarded to an individual desiring to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science or a diploma in Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) at Spartan School of Aeronautics’ campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The award will cover all tuition expenses for eight quarters, or until the recipient completes their program, whichever comes first. All other costs (books, tools, living expenses and student fees) will be the responsibility of the student. The applicant may not be currently enrolled in the AMT program at Spartan.
